Chinese Chews or "Chew Bread" (Date Bars) low fat dessert Add: 3 well beaten eggs To: 1 c. granulated sugar 1 t. vanilla Mix well. Sift: 5 heaping T flour (the heaping is important) 1 t. baking powder pinch of salt Pour flour mixture over: 1 c. chopped dates (1 c. chopped nuts-optional) Combine with egg mixture. Pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake in 325 oven 25 minutes (350 20 minutes). Cut while still slightly warm and roll in powdered sugar.
